The Heirloom Room Gets A Bench

Remember the Heirloom Room?
The extra room that our previous homeowners converted from half of the garage?
The room that they gave BLACK carpet and has no windows?

Despite these dungeon-like challenges, I've transformed this space into our guest room.
Recently, I gave it a charming little update in the form of my neighbor's old outdoor bench.
Yes, they offered this bench to us four? years ago, and we placed it in our backyard -
not really having a place for it.
Years went by, and its bright green paint began to chip away.
One day last month, I spontaneously chose to bring it inside....
...and situate the extra seating right in front of this Mission Era style antique bed -
- riding boots and all.
Rockabye-bye, rocking chair.
Hello, little bench.
You've been there all along - patiently waiting in the backyard.
Joey and I joke that this room is a Bed and Breakfast retreat, and we should "stay there" one night.
That would be TOO funny. And did you know there's a peephole on the door? Ha ha!
This particular traveler is brushing up on her Italian. ;)

I couldn't find the copyright date, but this little dictionary is old.
I still adore these speaker boxes in place of nightstands.
You never know WHAT you'll find for $1 at a garage sale.
Faux windows...
The bench is no longer on the sidelines, and it's added just the right touch to our guest room {which is the only place in my home that boasts such shabby charm}. Shabby can be a lot of fun!
Have you ever brought outdoor furniture in, blending it with the rest of your pieces?
P.S. This ENTIRE room, mattresses and all, was purchased and pieced together for under $275!!

Thanks for taking the time to stop by.
Please remember to say a prayer for the well-being of the civilians in Syria, and for the decision-making of our American leaders. Such a horrific situation. :(

I love country-chic Meredith! Your guest bedroom is so adorable. Yes, I love what you can find at garage sales! And yep, I interchange outdoor furniture with indoor furniture all the time, my favorite...a picnic table in my eat-in-kitchen...loved it! That's what I love about decorating...you can use what makes YOU feel good. Indeed my friend, we must pray...definitely a sad situation! Have a blessed darlin'! xoxoxo Btw...loved your answer on Friday. :-)

The bench goes perfectly with the antique bed in the room. It was patient and knew you would someday realize it was the perfect fit :)
